Up until recently if you wanted to have a Media Center that recorded your cable pay channels, you had to buy an certified Windows Media Center. That changed last year when Microsoft opened up the platform allowing any of us to build Media Centers that rely on CableCard. The last mile problem that remained was in finding a tuner that would take a cable card. Ceton has done just that and are taking pre-orders on a PCIe card that will allow you to record up to 4 HD streams at once.
But every so often something totally different comes our way, something that does get us excited ... the new InfiniTV 4 from Ceton easily qualifies. We all know that technology will not be denied, but there seem to be a lot of pieces that have to fall into place before Mr. and Mrs. Middle America will be using their PC as a set-top box. But I may be missing something, so I turned your questions over to Ed Graczyk, Ceton's CMO and a Microsoft TV veteran. Here's what Ed has to say:
That's right, you can now reserve your place in line to be the first to record four HD cable shows at once on your Windows 7 Media Center.
