Engadget HD hosts Ben Drawbaugh and Richard Lawler discuss the new Ceton Echo (Ceton portion starts at time stamp: 00:31:20.
The device seen at this year's CES is impressively small, with Ceton saying Echo is 72% smaller than an Xbox 360 power brick. Echo also claims to be significantly greener than an Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender consuming under 5 W - making it 90% more power efficient.
Once installed the Ceton Echo will transforming your Windows Media Centre PC into a complete home entertainment centre, and is now been re-packaged in a case which is 72% smaller than the one showcased at CES earlier in the year.
Today Ceton have announced the details of the new Ceton Echo extender that is due to go in to beta. I last saw the Extender at CES in January and since then it looks like it’s been on a crash diet. The Echo is tiny, it’s about the size of an Apple TV ( 3.9″ x 0.8″ x 4.3″) and consumes less than 5 watts which is a lot less than an Xbox 360 running in extender mode.
Now ready to go on sale around Thanksgiving, the Echo Windows Media Center Extender is looking much more polished than the demo unit we saw at CES, and Ceton says the final unit is actually 72 percent smaller, or 1/4 the size of the Xbox 360's power brick.
Ceton's Companion is the perfect $5 remote for your CableCARD equipped PC!
Ceton Companion is without question a must-have app for owners of any Ceton tuner. It greatly improves the Windows Media Center experience.
As we all know, where Microsoft cannot provide, others step in to fill the gaps. Ceton Corp has done just that, having just brought their Ceton companion app and services out of beta. The app promises more than just a simple remote control functions, we power up our Media Centres and Xbox 360s to see how it does.
Ceton Corp, who make some cool Media Center products such as the InfiniTV cable cards and the soon to be released ceton echo Media Centre Extenders have finally brought their Companion app out of Beta and into the Windows Phone Marketplace.
Ceton released the Ceton Companion apps for iOS and Android just yesterday. Given the level of anticipation in the WMC enthusiast community for these apps, I would have thought the fine folks at Ceton had earned themselves some time off to celebrate, but evidently there is just a bit too much dedication flowing in the veins of their programmers for that.
